The Emperor
Keywords: Comfortable male (upright) Uncomfortable male (reversed)

The Emperor is primarily concerned with the smooth running of things. He is more likely to compromise in disputes than the Magician. Being stress-free is his greatest motivation. Secondary meanings: Calm, unruffled behaviour, easy-going nature. A difficulty in achieving the above if card is reversed.

The Hierophant
Keywords: Consistency (upright) Inconsistency (reversed)

The Hierophant is symbolic of a high priest or religious leader, implying a fixed focus or dogmatic point of view. A determination to follow through with things creates results by sheer willpower. Secondary meanings: Staying power, resolved. Weak-willed or too willful if reversed.

The Lovers
Keywords: Love energy flow (upright) Difficulty with love (reversed)

The Lovers describes a whole range of emotions, from simply liking someone or something, to being passionately in love. The flow of love energy is unimpeded. Secondary meanings: Caring, affectionate nature, likable. When reversed the love energy is not flowing properly due to inner conflict.

The Chariot
Keywords: Right choice (upright) Wrong choice (reversed)

The Chariot relates to making choices, as implied by the two lions of different colors. When upright, it means that a positive attitude is being employed in making those choices. Secondary meanings: Freewill, education, transportation. When reversed, it can mean a difficulty in making choices, or no choice at all.
